Anne Boyes is an Online Tutor at AAA Tutoring – Africa
I am outgoing, and sometimes a wild and crazy person, who is passionate about the English language, teaching Speed and Drama and more specifically correct pronunciation. The reason why I am so passionate about correct pronunciation, is I feel it’s about respect. Respect for the English language and for the listener.
I am a “people person” who loves meeting new people and learning new things. I love to travel and lived in the United States for almost 10 years. My hobbies are travelling, reading, watching Netflix when I have the opportunity, and playing games. I am very patient, compassionate and empathetic and find teaching extremely rewarding.
What can I offer you?
Speech and Drama.
I have been a Speech and Drama teacher to children from 3 -13 years old, for the past 14 years. I have also trained children for the Trinity Guildhall speech and drama exams. I have assisted my senior children in writing their own plays which they produced for the end of year show. I teach poetry, improvisation and the art of mime (not stylized mime). I believe in education through fun, and I try and make my lessons as fun as possible. I use puppets as a medium to educate children, especially when I am telling them a story.
I have been in the broadcast industry for 25 years. I was a breakfast show host for 18 years, and then did news in the morning and afternoon drive shows. I coach prospective announcers in the art of announcing, how to produce a radio program and diction. I train news readers in compiling and in the execution of the news.
Did you know that there is a phobia called Glossophobia? It’s the fear of public speaking. A survey found that more people would rather go to the dentist than stand up and speak in front of an audience. I train young adults and adults in public speaking and standard English pronunciation. I have produced two training manuals that I use when training my students.
To teach is a privilege and it would be my privilege to teach you.
